‘Excellence in Home Safety’ Global Award, 2017
SAFE KIDS FOUNDATION’S HONEYWELL SUPPORTED ‘SAFE KIDS AT HOME’ PROGRAM WINS THE ‘EXCELLENCE IN HOME SAFETY” GLOBAL AWARD 2017 AT THE PREVCON WHICH WAS HELD AT BALTIMORE USA FROM JULY 26-29, 2017. SAFE KIDS AT HOME PROGRAM WON THE TOP HONOR AMONG 30 COUNTRIES.
The award was announced at Safe Kids Worldwide’s bi-annual conference, which was attended by more than 600 injury prevention experts from hundreds of communities across the United States and more than 30 countries around the globe. It was indeed a proud moment as the program has received a global recognition. Child injury prevention being the motto of the organization, the convention focused on keeping children safe on the road, at home, around water and while at play. The event had representatives from Safe Kids coalitions in the United States, leaders from global network, public health professionals from John Hopkins, federal agencies, partners and sponsors, and the broader public health community. Dr. Cinthia Pinto, Program Director of Safe Kids Foundation was invited to speak on how ‘Safe Kids at Home program is becoming a Model for Building Partnerships’ and ‘Fire and Burn Safety- Making Global Impact’. Safe Kids at Home is an educational program for children, teachers, and parents which seeks to prevent and reduce burns/scald injuries among children in Pune, and aims to reach out to 425,000 children and 250,000 parents across the city by 2018. The project is based on in-depth research that provided insights into home safety and injury risks to children. It also helped establish causes and remediation of burns, which are among the top hazards both in frequency and severity.
